Cookies we always use

These are needed for the website to work, so they don't need your consent.

• aapr_sess — keeps you signed in to the customer portal, protects our forms against misuse, and remembers how you arrived at the site for that visit (for example from a Google search or a link) so we know where enquiries come from. Deleted when you close your browser or after about two hours.
• aapr_consent — remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don't ask on every page. Kept for 12 months.

Analytics cookies — only if you accept

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. Its cookies (_ga and _ga_…, kept for up to 2 years) are only set if you choose "Accept analytics". If you reject them, or haven't chosen yet, Google Analytics sets no cookies and only receives anonymous page counts. We never send your name, email address, phone number or vehicle registration to Google.

You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Other services

• YouTube — our film loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced service only when you press play; YouTube may set cookies from that point.
• Stripe and PayPal — when you pay, you're taken to their secure pages, which use their own cookies.
• Vehicle theft risk score — your registration and postcode area are sent to the MOT history, postcodes.io and police.uk lookup services to run the check. No cookies are set for this.

Managing cookies

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the cookies we always use may stop parts of the site, such as signing in, from working.
