The on-board unit decides what's worth waking us up for. Routine driving doesn't trigger alerts. Genuine threats — geofence breach with no paired phone, unexpected ignition, excess speed — do.

When the trigger fires, three things happen: you get an app push, a human operator at our monitoring centre has the incident on screen, and once theft is confirmed our team opens police liaison.

How an alert is handled, step by step.

Trigger event
The device detects an event that meets the alert criteria — typically unauthorised ignition or geofence breach without the paired phone present.

Alert hits our console
Encrypted signal reaches our UK monitoring centre. The incident appears on the operator console with vehicle details, last known location, and live position.

You're notified
An app push notification land within seconds. You also get a phone call from the centre if you don't acknowledge to confirm reg, make and model

Operator review
A human operator reviews the alert and determines whether it's an active threat. If you've confirmed it's a theft (or we can't reach you), the response begins.

Police liaison opens
The operator contacts the relevant police control room with the vehicle's live track, registration and your authorisation. A crime reference is logged.

How is this different from a Thatcham-approved tracker?
Thatcham approval is an insurance industry certification — it can lower your premium. We are not Thatcham-approved or insurance-recognised. AAsset Protect gives you a 24/7 monitoring centre, geofence, ignition and speed alerts, police liaison and incident management, with vehicle recovery coming soon. You can run it alongside a Thatcham-approved device.
Will I have to renew anything?
The hardware is yours from day one. Your first 12 months of monitoring are included. After that, monitoring continues at the monthly rate shown on your plan until you cancel.
What if I move the car myself outside the geofence?
Your paired phone acts as the authorising signal. If you drive the car with your phone on board, no alert fires. You can also set scheduled "active hours" — for example, daily commutes — during which the geofence is paused automatically.
Can a thief just unplug the device?
The device is small and you choose where to hide it, so a thief has to find it first. Ask our team about the best place to fit it in your vehicle.
What if my vehicle is stolen abroad?
We are a UK-mainland-only service: England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland, Ireland and mainland Europe are not covered.
How accurate is the location?
The device uses GPS, so accuracy is best with a clear view of the sky and lower in multi-storey or underground car parks.
Will it drain my battery?
No. The device runs on its own battery and isn’t connected to your vehicle’s battery, so it can’t drain it.
What happens if your monitoring centre goes down?
Our monitoring centre is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
