Hardware
How does the GPS device work?
It's a small cellular GPS unit that wires into your vehicle's permanent 12V supply. Combines GPS, GLONASS and cell-tower triangulation for accuracy within 5–15 metres. Reports position continuously to our monitoring centre via an encrypted cellular link.
What's inside the box?
The GPS device itself, a pre-paired multi-network SIM, a wiring loom (fuse-tapped 12V + ground), Velcro mounts, a one-page setup card with a QR registration link, and a make/model-specific install guide.
Will the device drain my battery?
No. Standby current is approximately 25mA — less than your interior clock. A healthy vehicle battery can sit unused for weeks without depletion concern.
Can a thief just unplug it?
If a thief locates and disconnects the device, it sends a tamper alert to our centre before going offline. The internal backup battery then sends location updates for up to 72 hours after disconnection.
What's the warranty?
12-month hardware warranty from date of activation. Faulty units are replaced free of charge, no questions asked.
Monitoring
Is the monitoring centre actually staffed at 3am?
Yes. We run a mirrored monitoring operation across two physically separate UK sites, both staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, on rotating shifts. Real operators on real consoles — not a chatbot, not an answering service.
How quickly will I get an alert?
SMS and app push notifications typically land within 15 seconds of a trigger event. If you don't acknowledge within a minute, a human operator phones you directly.
What activates an alert?
Geofence breach without your paired phone present; unexpected ignition outside your usual hours; tamper detection on the device case or power supply; sudden power loss.
Can I disable alerts when I'm driving?
You don't need to — your paired phone authorises the journey. You can also set scheduled "active hours" (e.g. your commute) when the geofence is paused automatically.
What if the monitoring centre goes down?
We have a mirrored backup site that picks up automatically with no perceptible gap. Both sites have independent power, connectivity and staffing.
Recovery
How does recovery actually work?
When theft is confirmed, the operator opens a live track on the operator console, contacts the local police force with crime reference and incident detail, then dispatches the nearest of our 590 UK operatives. The operative tracks the vehicle to its location and physically secures it.
Are you Thatcham-approved?
No. We are not insurance-recognised. We're a recovery service, not an insurance product. Many of our customers run AAsset Protect alongside a Thatcham-approved tracker to get the insurance discount plus our actual recovery capability.
How often are stolen vehicles recovered?
Industry-wide, only around 40% of stolen UK vehicles are ever recovered. With active monitoring and a recovery network, recovery rates rise to 90%+. We won't publish a specific recovery rate for our service — outcome depends heavily on time-to-alert.
Will police actually act on my information?
In our experience, yes — because we open contact with the local force immediately, with live GPS data and authorisation from you. The crime reference is logged before our operatives arrive on scene.
Pricing
Is there a contract?
No. You pay for 12 months upfront and at the end decide whether to continue. No rolling subscription to cancel.
What's included in the first-year price?
The hardware (yours to keep), 12 months of 24/7 monitoring, full recovery service, customer portal + mobile app access, and free UK mainland delivery.
Are there setup or activation fees?
No. The price on the card is the full price.
Do you offer fleet discounts?
Yes — 5+ vehicles get per-vehicle volume pricing plus a dedicated fleet portal. Contact us for a tailored quote.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card payments via Stripe (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and PayPal. Business accounts can pay on 14-day invoice terms once verified.
Coverage
Where do you operate?
UK mainland only — England, Scotland and Wales. We do not operate in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, or mainland Europe.
What if my car is stolen and driven abroad?
The device keeps reporting if it has cellular signal, but our monitoring centre cannot coordinate recovery outside the UK mainland. We pass live tracking data to the relevant national police force via Interpol.
How accurate is the location?
Typically within 5 metres in open environments, 10–15 metres in dense urban areas. In car parks and underground we fall back to last known position plus inertial dead-reckoning until signal is reacquired.
Account & support
How do I cancel?
Cancel anytime in your customer portal. If you cancel within the first 14 days, you get a full refund and just return the device. After 14 days, monitoring stops on the renewal date — you keep the hardware.
Can I move the device to a different vehicle?
Yes. Email us with the new vehicle's registration and we'll switch the device over. Reinstall takes the same 20 minutes.
Can I have multiple users on one account?
Yes. The customer portal supports multiple drivers and admins per vehicle. Useful for families, partners, or fleet operators.
How do I get support?
